This foundational course teaches the basic principles of Thai Yoga (Nuad Boran), including practitioner and recipient alignment, proper use of hands and fingers, and how to cultivate rapport with clients. Using hands, arms, and feet, participants will learn a sequence of techniques to guide the recipient’s entire body through a 60-minute sequence of basic muscle compression and joint range of motion. The sequence also includes moving the client’s body in and out of basic therapeutic yoga postures. Each day, participants learn and practice self-massage to develop quality and sensitivity of touch. Deepening our own practice of asana and making our classes richer and more satisfying for our students requires us to be on a continual journey into the inquiry and exploration of how the body moves. These five movement studies programs are designed to provide you knowledge, practice and experience on your journey as a practitioner and teacher. Each course will explore a variety of postures, sequences and themes for our Pranakriya classes. Benefits, potential stress points, modifications, variations, prop use, assisting, layers of meaning and energetics will be covered. Students will participate in individual practice and exploration, observation, and discussion.
